Halifax, NS—Atlantic Canadian companies seeking to do business with India will be getting a leg-up via a two-day training session this week, hosted by World Trade Centre Atlantic Canada (WTCAC), in partnership with the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. The seminar, entitled "Focus India" will be held Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20 at the World Trade & Convention Centre in Halifax.

"We’re tremendously excited by this opportunity to provide information about the Atlantic Gateway Strategy and, in particular, introduce participating companies to the vast, potential opportunities India offers," said Bill Aasvangen, WTCAC’s General Manager.

That enthusiasm is shared by Scott Ferguson, Interim President & CEO of Trade Centre Limited (TCL), the crown corporation that operates WTCAC. "By offering this seminar to Atlantic Canadian companies, we are helping them capitalize on building relationships with what is an emerging economic powerhouse in the global marketplace," he said. "It’s perfect timing as well," he added. "Halifax will be hosting a highly anticipated incoming business mission from India within the next couple of weeks.

The seminar will be conducted as a lead-up activity prior to an incoming trade mission of Indian business delegates taking place in Halifax from August 30 to September 4, 2009. Organized in partnership with the World Trade Centre Mumbai, the Confederation of Indian Industry and the All India Association of Industries, the mission will bring to our region representatives from various Indian sectors. Those sectors include: transportation logistics, education, information technology, environment, ocean technologies, renewable energy and aerospace and defense.
